The Club is called KILLINEY SHANKILL HOCKEY CLUB and is affiliated via LEINSTER HOCKEY.
- Aims and Objectives
The purpose of the Club is to promote, organise, and develop the sport of hockey in the local community for players of all ages and abilities.
- Membership
The club ensures that all present and future members receive fair and equal treatment.
Membership consists of officers and members of the club.
Membership begins on 1st August with payment of annual fees and lasts till 31st July of the following year.
All members are subject to the regulations of the constitution and, by joining the club, are
deemed to accept these regulations and codes of practice that the club adopts.
Members are enrolled in one of the following categories:
- Full member (with voting rights)
- Associate member
- Junior member
- Life member
- Pavilion member (parental / non-playing members)
- Membership Fees
Membership fees are set annually and agreed by the Executive/Management Committee or
determined at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Fees are paid annually or by subscription.
- Officers of the Club
The officers of the club are:
· Chair
· Honorary Secretary
· Treasurer
Officers are elected annually at the AGM.
All officers retire each year but are eligible for re-appointment.
- Committee
The club is managed through the Management Committee, which:
- Grants voting rights only to Club officers
- Is convened by the Secretary and meets at least four times per year
- Requires a quorum of three officers
- Adopts new policies, codes of practice, and rules affecting Club organisation
- May appoint sub‑committees and advisers as required
- Conducts disciplinary hearings and determines any suspension or disciplinary action
- Amendments to the Constitution
The constitution may only be amended by majority vote at an AGM or EGM.
- Finance
- All club monies are banked in an account held in the Club’s name.
- The Treasurer is responsible for Club finances.
- The financial year ends on 30th April.
- An audited statement of annual accounts is presented at the AGM.
- Cheques drawn against Club funds must carry the Treasurer’s signature plus up to one other officer.
- Accounts available to members on request.
- Annual General Meetings
- Notice of AGMs is given by the Secretary, with at least 21 clear days’ notice to all members.
- The AGM receives reports from officers and the audited accounts.
- Nominations for officers are submitted to the Secretary before the AGM.
- Elections take place at the AGM, and all members have voting rights.
- The quorum is 10% of the membership.
- The Management Committee may call an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). Procedures mirror those of the AGM.
- Safeguarding
The Club adopts and adheres to the Hockey Ireland Safeguarding Policy
- Equity Policy
This club is committed to equity across all areas of its development and adopts the definition of sports equity as fairness, equality of access, and the removal of barriers.
The club:
- Respects the rights and dignity of every person
- Treats everyone equally regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality or social/economic status.
- Opposes discriminatory behaviour.
- Handles incidents of discriminatory seriously under Club disciplinary procedures.
- Discipline and Appeals
- All safeguarding concerns are recorded and addressed promptly according to Club policy.
- Complaints about member behaviour must be submitted in writing to the Secretary.
- The Management Committee meets to hear complaints within 14 days.
- Outcomes are communicated in writing within 7 days.
- Members have the right to appeal within 7 days; appeals are heard within 14 days of receipt.
- Dissolution
The Club may be dissolved only by majority vote at an AGM or EGM. After settling debts and liabilities, all remaining assets are distributed to a charity or non‑profit organisation with similar aims.
